Y'know, since the breakup of the U.S.S.R., "Russian" tortoises really aren't Russian anymore. They're native to the former Soviet republics (now sovereign nations) of Kazakhstan,Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan, as well as northern Iran and Afghanistan. So how about some Kazakh names like Ardak, or Balkhadisha, or Akku? They may not be as melifluous as "Anastasia" but, like the tortoises themselves, I think they make up in charm what they lack in beauty.
