Hi,
I would be very careful about spraying pestiside anywhere in the tortoises area.I wouldn't recommend it at all.
Also, make sure that there is both sun and shade in the tortoise area.
Not just sun with a little shade, or the other way around.
If you grow grapes you can feed the tortoises the leaves of the grape plant, very healthy for them.

Although it's geared towards keeping tortoises in the UK, I'm sure you'll find it very informative.
