I have been off the board for a long time, just got busy and didn't have much time to check the boards. As the warm weather has come back, so have the mating and egg laying. I added fresh plants and dirt to the rock gardens about two weeks ago. In the process I found 7 nests of redfoot eggs, yes 35 eggs in total. ALL OF THEM WERE BAD!! That is discouraging! Last season she laid a total of 31 and I incubated those, they were all bad as well. She laid yesterday, 8 eggs, they are now in the incubator. Wish me luck with these. I am hoping that she just isn't mature enough to produce good eggs, is that possible? Her age is about 8-9 years old. She and the male do mate, he is a persistant fellow and is 33 years old.
Glad to be back with you all!!
