: It has been awhile since I posted in here but my sulcata has developed a small problem. I have had him over a year and he has always been a good eater. But at the beginning of winter he stopped eating like he used to, at first he tappered off, then he quit completely for about 2-3 weeks. Just this week he started eating again, but not like he used to. Has anyone else had their sulcata do this? His temperatures have not changed at all, only that since it is winter he hasn't been able to get outside. (I live in northeast ohio). I keep his temps at 95-100 basking site 80 on the warm side, 75 on the cool side and 70-75 at night. I don't know what kind of growth I expected for the first year but he has only grown about 1 and a half inches. Anyone care to comment on this to let me know if this behavior and growth is normal? I appreciate any input you guys have.

: Thanks in advance,
: Shelly

Hi Shelly,
If at all possible to bump up the basking side to the low 90's, I would try this. But only if you have enough temp gauges to verify that he still has a cool zone in the 70's.
How does this little ones stools look? They should be firm and formed.
Does he have acess to water at all times? He should.
The 1&1/2 inches of growth in the first year are fine. You want to aim for slow and smooth growth with these guys.
Im going to send you some more info off list but get back to us and let us know how things go ok?
Take care,
tcc
