Amanda you'll find out soon enough that a 10 gallon
tank was a waste of money. Start looking into
getting something more appropriate (fishtank
aquariums are not appropriate for tortoises -
especially tiny tanks). I just posted some
pictures of my sulcata a little further down,
he's not even 2 years old yet. He'd hardly be
able to turn around in a 10 gallon tank now. He
got to start off in his big enclosure, even that's
only going to last a short time.
There's a ton of greens you can start offering,
and they've been listed here many times on this
forum, stuff like endive, chickory, collards,
mustard greens, turnip greens, dandelion greens,
a little bit of yellow squash, zuchinni, green
and yellow peppers, etc...and grasses like you
were saying. They're available specifically for
tortoises from TurtleCafe.
What Lizard litter are you using? There are 4 types
I know of, you want to be sure it's the Kenaf Plant
variety. That's what I use too, love it!
Ed - (EJ) Do you have any photos or something of how
to set up a sweater box or plastic box with heat that is
safe? I wish I did (project??lol). I'm trying to
think how this might seem challenging to people,
I mean with snake people they could put a pad
underneath the sweater box, but with tortoises,
you'd need more heat, probably only going to be
available with overheat bulbs. So how to attach?
Clamps on a stand next to it? How to make this
safe, so as not to come home to a house of ashes,
or a burned tortoise.
I've got a "wreath storage box" which is a nice
large plastic box, and I've been thinking about
how to make that more "portable" like to take
Teddy somewhere when it's not warm enough to stay
outside only (to someone's house). How to heat
it temporarily? Desk lamp?! (Just thought of that.)
Ideas, Pics welcome....niki
