Hi Tim--

No, I never tried to contact Beasley's owners. I had the impression that the website had been up for awhile, and a few of the links to other pages are no longer valid.

I completely relate to your frustration regarding nutrition and feeding. I did a little looking through books and websites, and I don't usually see collards listed as having a high oxalic acid content. (For some reason, I had steared clear of them because I thought they were related to cabbage). There is so much information out there that is conflicting that it is hard to know who to believe. And judging from the link that tcc posted back on 2/27 (in response to "should I feed cabbage?"), it looks like there is *something* potentially dangerous in *every* food! Feeding a varied diet seems to be the thing most people agree on. I just ordered A.C. Highfield's new book on feeding as I search for further enlightment!

And yes, your tortoises look very fat, healthy, and happy. I really enjoyed the pic you posted. Maggie is lovely! :-)
