: hi! i was just in a pet store last night that has some baby sumatra tortoises. they also had chinese box turtles. i was just wondering if this is legal to sell turtles like this.
Sumatran Tortoise? I am afraid that you will need to give usa a bit more information for this. i know of nothing that goes by that name. Tortoises that it may be - assu=ming the pet shop is even in the correct continent are:
Indotestudo elongata - yellowhead or elongated tortoise
Indotestudo forstenii - Forstenn's Tortoise or sometimes Travencore tortoise
Indotestudo travancornica - Travancore tortoise (almost certainly it is NOT this.)
Manouria emys - Burmese mountain tortooise, Burmese brown, Burmese Black
I would search on the above names to identify it and ask via a known name.
