Hi! I live in the Northwest and have recieved a "stray" semi-aquatic turtle(We're out in the country and rehab some bird & mammal species). Not sure of her species(I say "her" 'cause tail is long and thin, no bulges up by stern, just a guess). She is uniformly brown all over except for some streaks of pale ivory around the head. About 3 " long. If she had the red markings on the cheeks, I'd think she wasa a Red-Eared Slider(?). Been feeding any earthworms, slugs, snail, grubs etc. I find plus Mazuri fresh water turtle and ReptoMin (She eats a lot!), and also some of my italian parsley and little sprouts from the yellow flag iris out at the pond. However, I don't see any sign that she is actually eating this. My main question is: I do want to turn her loose out at the pond(there is one other semi-aquatic turtle out there, brought to us last year in the summer, a male I think, 'bout 5" long)but don't want to do it too early in the year. Since her normal routine was interupted by whoever found her and now she is inside where it's warm I don't want to put her out in the cold. Would welcome any thoughts and advice re her care and about releasing her. Thanks, and thanks for your site. We are changing computers soon(oh, jeeze!) so hope we are not off-line too long. Waiting for it to arrive in the mail! Little Quacker :)
