I live in Nebraska and currently have 9 torts and turts, 8 different species, one of which is a leopard. He is about 8 1/2 inches and weighs about 3 pounds. He has a closet in my family room with a baby gate up in the doorway. He has 2 heat lamps, an 18 inch uv bulb, a hide log and the substrate is a piece of plywood to keep him off the cold concrete covered with orchard hay about 6 inches deep so he can burrow. Just make sure he cant bunch up the hay and get it too close to the lights. They require very low humidity, though i do know of people in florida who keep them outdoors with great success, but high humidity has been known to lead to upper resp infections. I know mine wont be able to stay in this closet for more than a couple more winters, i think then he will have my entire family room, though i have also heard stories of them digging through drywall. Just be prepared to have your hands full and please buy from a breeder not a wild caught one.
