Dan, I'm in NY as well...but down in Long Island area. A good suggestion if it's driveable is to make it to the NY Reptile Metro Expo in the spring...www.reptileexpo.com (not sure when the next one is) and get the tortoise there. I will be there in our booth and will be able to help you pick out a good specimen from a reliable source. Otherwise, why don't you contact me in the spring when you are ready for the tortoise and I will help you locate a good dealer or source then?
