I would tend to shy away from buying a pet from a pet shop anyway, but many people have (including myself) and those pets, after a good vet visit, have worked out just fine. $199 seems to be a fair price for a Redfoot and at 5" it's not a baby so obviously has some survival instinct. I would locate a good vet that deals with exotics near you and make sure of Petco's return policy. If you purchase the tortoise, get it right to the vet for an exam and fecal check to determine if it's healthy. There are alot of good sites online for Refoot care info. Do some research and make sure, before buying, that you have a proper indoor enclosure set up before purchase including lighting, bedding, gauges, etc. I would tend to say stay away from buying from a pet shop but if an animal looks healthy and you are prepared to get it checked out and set up properly, you will probably do just fine. The reality is, someone will probably buy the tortoises...might as well be you. Check out link below...
