First of all can you tell us which species you have, as well as the Russian?
It's not advisable to mix different species, cross contamination/infection is one risk. This can prove fatal.
Also some species are more agressive than others, the Russian could feel intimidated. It could even be injured or killed by a larger, more aggresive species. Certainly it could be bullied at mealtimes too, making it too shy to even go and eat at mealtimes.
Another reason not to mix species is that different species require different environments/ temperatures/diet.
See here for more info on mixing species:
http://www.tortoisetrust.org/care/faq.html#separate
So I would separate all the different species and read up on their various needs, a vet visit is another good idea. Have the vet check each tortoise for internal parasites. 99% of Russian tortoises available are wild caught, they are often infested with internal parasites. This needs to be confirmed and treated by a qualified vet.The treatment is straight forward, however if the tortoise isn't checked the worms can cause more health concerns.
Of course the Russian could have passed the worms or other health problems to the other tortoises now. Or them to him, so all the tortoises must now be checked.
Also for Russian tortoises fruit is not recommended, neither for sulcatas, leopards and many other species of tortoise.
Check out the link below for more tortoise info, explore the whole web site.
Hope this helps.
Terry.
