Metronidazole is not for worms ( nematodes), it's for flagellate and ciliate protozoan organisms. It's a very powefull drug and should only be administered by a veterinarian.
Only a vet should prescibe metronidazole, so go back to your vet and ask him/her what the dose rate is.
No reputable vet would suggest treating with Metronidazole without first performing a stool and urine test.
If the vet believed that metronidazole was needed they would prescribe it and the dose rate would be right there on the container.
Did your vet do a fecal and urine test ?
If so what were the results, why was metronidazole recommended?
For worms ( nematodes) Panacur is the most common drug used. Once again your vet can prescribe it and tell you the dose rate.
DON'T use over the counter dewormers, especially those meant for cats/dogs.
And NEVER use Ivermectin to deworm a tortoise. Ivermectin is lethal to tortoises and will result in death.
As far as I know there are no veterinarians who post at this forum. Only a vet should be giving out information such as dose rates.
If your tortoise has worms have your vet do a stool test, more likely than not the vet will prescribe Panacur.
Terry.
