Hi, I would recommend a vet visit immediately as these guys are usually wild-caught and loaded with parasites/worms. Not to say yours is definitely, but it's common with Russians.

Also, sounds like your pet shop gave you some poor advice about a heat lamp which would prompt me to ask you about the rest of your setup. Can you detail out how you have this tortoise setup and what type of enclosure you are using?

Tortoises need a basking spot to warm up and this may have alot to do with why the tortoise isnt' eating. Take a look at the following link for more info...and write us back. Also feel free to write me privately with questions, I'm happy to help you.
: I recently bought a russian tortiose and he hasn't ate or drank anything. He sleeps constantly and I realize thats okay, but how much is too much? Can I take him out, and when should I worry about him not eatting or drinking? thanks...they also told me at the pet shop that he didn't need a heat lamp...is that true?thanks...
