I recently acquired a baby redfoot and have struggled with a substrate. I started with rabbitt pellets and definitely do not recommend them. Misting causes them to swell and decay and turn to irritating dust. I also tried fir chips, but I read somewhere not to use fir. Actually I kind of liked it. Right now I am using CareFresh, and some sphagnum moss. Someone recommended top soil (with no additives), mixed with sphagnum moss, which I will probably switch to this weekend. My biggest problem has been keeping the humidity levels in the tropical zone. It ain't easy, but sphagnum moss is supposed to absord 30x its weight in water, so I'm hoping it works. Good luck. Let me know if you get any better ideas.
