desert tortoise..um...I need more help..I think

I wrote in a few days ago about a desert tortoise that I found...no one believed that it was a desert tortoise so they sent me pictures...It is! I have tried to find a local group or something in wich I could find out what I need to do to get it registered but I have been unable to find one online or in the phone book. I really would like to get him/her registered(It's still to young to tell boy or girl). If anyone knows who I should contact would you please let me know! Also How do I set up a dehumidifier around it's terrarium? I've never done it...Shoud I just put it in the room is there a specific one I should buy? I am new at all this, but I love it. Because it's an endangered species, I need to know weather a vet is going to prosecute me for bringing the tortoise in without registration. I just dont want to be blamed for doing a good deed.
