There is some kind of "Turtle Hospital" in Florida, maybe they are the ones who are treating the turtles. I love sea turtles and appreciate their beauty and rarity and this photograph really tears me up.

Please, if you find out more about the resolution of this dilema, let me know.

As for helping, I wish I knew to whom I could contribute directly to help these specific turtles. In the mean time, I will have to continue helping sea turtles through one of my current charities, The Riverhead Foundation.

It is a marine aquarium and sea turtle rehabilitation program in New York, on the beaches. For a tiny sum of money ($20), you can "adopt" a sea turtle and the money goes toward paying for that specific animal's medication and food. For my birthday, A friend "adopted" a loggerhead male that had been stranded off of the coast of Maine in winter. I was given an "adoption certificate" with his new name (I chose Tortue) and specialized information about Tortue's case history and species. At the end of the summer, when the ocean up here warmed up, They called me to let me know that they were going to rehabilitate Tortue and release him back into the sea, and invited me to participate. I will never forget the experience of watching him happily flap his wing-like flippers and diving back into the ocean!

After that experience, I was hooked. I have since then given all my family members and friends gifts of these types of "adoptions" and gone on more rehabilitation trips. I am happy to pass on the Riverhead Foundation's information if anyone else is interested in donating - I think you can also adopt stranded seals, sea-lions and dolphins as well.
