I don't recommend buying a tortoise to put in with your existing group as that will only invite disaster! If you do, make sure you at least quarrantine for 90 days with a vet exam. Most hingebacks I come across are wild caught and usually loaded with worms/parasites that can be easily taken care of with medications prescribed by a vet if necessary. Hingebacks in general I've heard are a little harder to maintain than some other species. But they are good tortoises. I think Forest Hingebacks might not be as easy to maintain as the Bells...but they are all still the same type of tortoise with similar requirements and diet. Visit www.tortoisetrust.org and in their Caresheets section you will find a good info sheet on Hingebacks. I think if you are keeping them and feeding them properly, most healthy tortoises should be relatively easy to keep. The hard part is getting the husbandry down pat.
