The way I've handled such a deal in the past is to politely inform the dept keeper of his/her oversight and how much easier it would be to sell the animal if it was properly labled (and priced). If they responded to me as if I was some sort of nut(which of course would not be out of line) I just shrug my shoulders and think 'I tried'.

: While down in san francisco for christmas, I decided to take a look at the local petco. The caging the animals were in were cleaner than most petcos i have seen, but the thing that bothered me the most was a cage labled yellow and red foot tortoises $299. I took a look into the cage and noticed that the animals were not toroises at all they were red and yellow ornate box turtles. The employ told me that they were toroises and it was his manager that told him so.
