Best UV Light for Temperate Tortoise

Hello All,

Please advise as to which lightbulb, preferably one that fits into a regular socket, is the best for a tortoise that is used to a temperate climate. I have an Eastern Box Turtle. He lives in a 10 gallon tank with 1/2 cypress mulch and 1/2 water. I spritz the terrarium 4-5 times daily and change his swimming pool daily. I have a 100 watt UV bulb on him about 10 hours per day. Do you think he is getting too hot? I must admit to being very confused after all I've read on the web. I want a bulb that won't cook him. Also, I have the light apx 3 feet from his cage. Any advice would be helpful.
