The substrate is a mixture of cypress mulch and a potting soil without additives that I can buy at Home Depot. I couldn't tell you what ratio I use. Just add both until the mix is uniform. I think that I probably end up taking pics after a spraying more often than not. I'm starting to use the soil with other dry species as well because it holds up fairly well even when dry...
