Hello, after many years of keeping and breeding African Spurred Tortoises, I have to tell you, my animals while grazing outside have gotten into alot. they've eaten many toxic plants with no noticeable ill effects. They have eaten Rhododendron leaves, Acorns, Bittersweet and apple cores along with such wonderful things that get lost in the grass as jewelry, broken glass (no sharp edges were seen on the glass however) ribbons and string. I'm telling you, just when you think you have everything safe and cleaned up, something unusual shows up in the Droppings. As far as the toxic plants go, perhaps with all of the grazing , the high calcium in the grass absorbs the toxins and allows them to pass safely through. Either way, Spurs are remarkably hardy and I do believe that much of what you see printed on this species as far as toxins are concerned, is primarily theoretical. Be careful, but rest easy. Leo
