just kidding. You know, my sulcata has an eight
foot long enclosure, and you know where he is
95% of the time. In the warm area, basking, in
his hay pile. He just doesn't hang out in the
cool side other than to eat his greens and drink
water. Outside he spends more time under his logs
in the shade. As I've always said, it's hotter
outside at 95 than it is inside a cage at 95.
Anyways, what size enclosure do you have him in and
what wattage bulb are you using???
If you're using a too-low wattage bulb to provide
enough heat, then he could be basking for a very
long time, trying desperately to get the heat.
They need to be basking for a while (20 minutes say)
and then move to a warm area off of the hottest
section. That's they key, they're moving between
areas that are very warm, warm and cooler. If
they're hanging out constantly in the bask section,
it's probably too cool in the cage in general.
Mine has no interest in hanging out in the 70's
section of his cage.
Just tell me the size tank, and wattage you have
that'll help me since I've had many different
combinations for different animals.
Also I use an oven thermometer to find out the
real temperature on the substrate where
they bask, The air temperature is another story.
