: I hope I can get some advice! My husband has a "friend" who has neglected his poor torts....he called today to see if we would take them, since he has had his electricity shut off and they were dying!! What can I say, Im a sucker for a tort-faced being...plus I feel those poor animals didnt CHOOSE to be with that jackass....so....now..I have:
: TEN Russian torts
: One redfoot...dont know how big these get at maturity, but this one is about a foot long
: One Sulcatta...which I know, unfortunately are a dime a dozen. This one is what I would call a teenager...well, maybe not in turtle years. About 18" long.

: They arrived dehydrated...the russians especially, I dont know if I will lose any of them. I put them all in lukewarm water and sprayed them with water. Most , if not all, took a big poop, and sort of came back to life.

: The Sulcata is running loose in our kitchen, for lack of a better place to house him comfortably. The russians are all in a 70 gallon tank, again, the best I can do on short notice. All have been offered soaked pellets(for bearded dragons, but has to work for today...). The Redfoot ate...I didnt think any of them would.

: Now, after all that history....a question:
: Is there a coordinator or an organization for Tort rescue??
: I need help placing these animals, ASAP, as am not equipped or educated enough to care for them.

: Can someone direct me to the proper persons who might be willing to help?

: I live in Kansas City, Mo.
: Any help or information appreciated.
: Sara Kaminski
