Moby, If the tortoise didn't nest it is probably not good. BUT, never discard an egg unless it is either rancid or hatched. Get yourself some vermiculite and mix in some water in a 3 to 1 ratio by weight vermiculite to water. In the mean time get a coffee cup and fill it half way with toilet paper or napkins. Dampen this to where you ring it out no water comes out. Place the egg in the coffee cup and cover with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. Try to find a place where the temps are around 85F. I've used the boiler area for this with success. Check the temps though. You can also use an incandescent desk lamp over the egg. This should do until you can find something more long term.

: My female laid an egg today and I am in desperate need of advice, guidelines etc on how to hatch that egg successfully. What temperature, how to keep it, what to put it in, how long the tort takes to hatch etc.......PLEASE ADVICE!!
