Yeah you are right but I've had mine for about 6 mos now and so far so good. I know it's good to be objective which is why I don't recommend them for newbies who really should concentrate on getting comfortable with their tortoise and becoming knowledgeable about their setup. I mean, how much can we really know about any bulb aside from the tests that determine their output? I know what you are saying, but I still think it's a viable option, no more so than any other good bulb....
