Hi Miguel,

In 1998 some Parrot-beaked tortoise came into the country. I bought 3 pairs. We moved to Mendoza Argentina and in the next 8 years we hatched 20+ babies. I kept them outside and let them hibernate, because I didn't have enough room inside once they began to reproduce.

They are not all that easy to keep healthy, but their needs are much like a Greek tortoise. They need a lot more room than even a much larger tortoise because they stress easy and seem to always be in a hurry.

They also seem prone to skin problems and no one seems to know just why or what to do about it. I had a 90 percent survival rate on the babies.

They are almost impossible to find now days and are super expensive if you do.

If you do get some I'll be glad to answer any questions. Good luck.

Mike Palmer
