Thanks for your replies. I have been told not to use rabbit pellets by the three vets I have seen, as well as the zoo staff. I'm not sure what the problem is but from what I understand they grow mold spores too quickly. As far as commercially available substrates we have none here, the market is to small to warrant bringing them in. I wanted to make his/her enclosure as natural as possible which is why I don't want to go for the all hay thing. From what I understood they come from northern africa and live in a dry climate, hence why I wanted to use playground sand. Looks like I'm still at a lose as what to use!!!!!
