Niki,
my husband sent me three opuntia pads from our yard in Hawaii.
I've got them in pots, they've turned a much lighter green, but are sprouting roots. So I'm not giving up on them yet.
This type of Opuntia is spineles, just a few tiny tuffs on each pad.
t's a beautiful bright green color and the pads are very elongated.
I haven't found this particular variety anywhere here in Arizona.
Very easy to handle with kitchen mits.
Then all you do is wipe it down under running water, (even with just a paper towel) and those few tiny tuffs rub right off.
