I believe that there are mechanisms involved to where if you have all the right conditions including health, environment and such you get eggs. This is not as silly as it sounds. Reproduction is the last thing an animal actually 'needs'. Survival of the individual is the primary concern. So, if everyting is 'just right' you get reproduction. In other words if you've had the animal for any length of time and it is going through a natural cycle it will only produce eggs as long as conditions are conducive to egg production. If everything remains constant the tortoise will stop laying if it gets too weak.
(ps, you wanna trade baby leopards for redfoots?)
: Well, I guess it sounds like this is "normal" for her to lay with this frequency. I was just getting worried that she would weaken herself. I will continue her vitamin supplements and calcium supplements, just in case this isn't the last of the egg laying!! Can you imagine?
