Holding the female head up looking at the plastron, the opening formed to acomodate the tail forms a u shape or semicircular opening when looking at the shape fromed by the aft edge of the plastron. In a male the opening is a v shape. The males tail is usually longer and more slender wraping around almost to the back of the knee. (normally). The females plastron is flatter and the male is usually concaved. The anal scute on the male usually wraps under the animal where the female anal scute flares outward.
Hope this helps.
: I've tried for hours to find photos showing the differences between male & female leopards but all I get are broken links! I have a 4 year old, 10.5 inches long (measured along base-plate) and was wanting to get another but would like to end up with a pair to breed. Any help would be gratefully appreciated (UK). Thanks.
