I would suggest a larger house. I tried an
aquarium and it just didn't work. I was
also advised not to use wood chips because
they can get stuck between his neck and shell,
cutting him if he sucks his head in. I went
to Home Depot and bought pre grooved shelves which
I screwed together (4 sides and bottom).It's 3/4
inch wood so it holds heat and he can't see
out of it to disturb him. I used alphalpha pellets
which he loves to dig in. I would suggest going
to a feed store and getting horse food. It smells
but it's a lot cheaper. I got a 40lb bag for 7
bucks.
: My russian tortise won't stop digging . He is in a 15 gallon aquarium and digs through the bedding until he hits the glass bottom and then he continues to dig as if he's trying to dig through the glass . What can I do to stop this . Should I put him in a bigger tank with deeper bedding in it . What kind of bedding should I use . Right now I have wood chips in the tank . Do they like sand , petemoss , or what . Should I cover the sides and the bottom of the tank with something so he can't see through the glass . Input would be greatly appreciated , Thank you .
: P.S. Where could I find Caresheets On Russian Tortises
