I know exactly what you mean. There are alot of confliction reports out there. I honestly think that people believe what they are reporting in regards to taking care of thier tortises. I have been told that every pet owner has to learn what their pet wants to eat and what enviornment they want to live in. In this regard they're alittle like people, each one will have different likes and dislikes. The only thing I would be cautious of is when you are told your tortise should not eat something is if the food is dangerous. Ask for clarification as to wether the food is harmful to the animal or if the person commenting's tortise just doesen't like that food. In which case you may want to experiment with that food because you tortise may of may not have the same likes and dislikes. My Russian Tortise for example hates strawberries, a food they are all supposed to love.
