: What would be the best substrate for a leopard tortoise? I've heard of many but what do you guys think?

My hatchlings (a leopard and 2 sulcata)are kept in an 16' by 5' outdoor pen during the day with lots of graze, tall grass, dry spots and water. Every evening and on rainy days, they are kept on a table top setting with rabbit pellets. The dust particles from the pellets are removed by sifting them through a strainer. Rabbits pellets are inexpensive, great in soaking up urine/urates and is safe if eaten but they often have to be changed if soiled to prevent mold. Aloha from Hawaii.
