I agree with Niki, ours do it ocassionally. Their eyes tear also for cleansing. Just recently our Tonka's left eye was tearing and he had it closed. T/C to the vet and it was suggested we use saline solution used for contact lens to rinse his eye. Within hours his eye was open and clear. Watch for excessive tearing, closure and swelling, if that hasn't happened it sound to me like its all normal.
