Cat food is a completely inappropriate food for redfoots, or for any tortoise! Some keepers feed redfoots a SMALL amount of animal protein -- low fat/low protein dry dog food, rehydrated, say ONCE A MONTH.

Others feed no animal protein at all.

There is plenty of protein in plant sources, and all captive bred tortoises are getting more than they need, anyway, b/c we provide them with more food/calories than they would find in the wild. This is one reason why pyramiding, MBD, etc. occurs.

See my Redfoot pages, below. Please switch to a healthier diet for your redfoot! That should be primarily fruit and mixed greens, with appropriate supplements.
