Hi,
if you could post a photo that would be a great help.
I have linked the Slow Coach tortoise/Turtle Gallery for you below, lots of photos of tortoises/turtles commonly kept as pets. See if she looks like any of them. If she's a sulcata I would expect her to be bigger at that age, maybe closer to 10", but you never know. Check out the photos and let us know.

Can you tell us how many claws/nails she has on both her front and back feet, and if her back legs are stumpy like an Elephants, or longer and more like lizard legs?
