BB, I do not position myself as an expert on sulcata, merely someone with some years of experience and my caresheet not only reflects my own experiences, but also my research. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If you disagree with some of my information...that's fine. Nobody is forcing you to. I am sort of getting used to EJ's "balance" theory on the protein issue, as sulcatas are known to chew on carrion they come across and still grow slowly and smoothly. However (and this is a big however) since the majority of sulcata owners who keep them in captivity as pets or to breed do not or are not able to keep them in natural conditions (outdoors, graze diet, etc.) as someone like EJ is. So for me to advocate feeding animal protein or to caution especially a new owner not to keep a close eye on the protein content or the diet itself would be somewhat negligent. Once again, this is just one person's opinion, mine. My care sheet was peer reviewed by more than one professional in the tortoise community, and I can verify that the information contained therein is accurate based on current data and knowledge.
