I would not recommend housing them together as their personalities differ. As adults it's probably not a good idea. As hatchlings, I wouldn't recommend housing another tortoise with yours without quarranting it first.

If you want my honest opinion, since you are, as you pointed out, new to tortoises...I would really recommend becoming familiar with the complete care of your sulcata first before possibly introducing another animal into the picture.

My advice - take some time to enjoy your tortoise, don't go nuts adding tortoises to your family yet without some experience under your belt.
