I have noticed the same on my 4 month old baby Sulcatas also. Hard to explain but looks like a paste wax that did not wipe off and is in the crevice of the scutes on top of the carapace. Both of mine have just a crevice or two and were that way when purchased. I thought it was a powder from feeding but noticed that it did not wash off. It isn't to noticeable. I wonder if the breeder or seller(LLL Reptile) may have tried to make the shells appear to have a more shine by appling some substance? They were 3 months old when purchased, and I noticed many with the same white residue out of a box of 15. This was at a local Reptile Show in Sacramento, CA.
