Chaco Tortoises are very much like the North American Texas tortoise. They don't do well at all outside the own natural habitat, they are not all that much to look at and don't do much but sleep. I know because I lived in Argentina for almost 9 years and had 10 or 12 of them. They stayed outside all year, hibernated for 5 months (nighttime temps. in the low 20s days in the 50s) each winter, I never fed them and they had no problems. But when kept indoors they do very poorly. Red Foots ate more fun.
