I've looked into this also. I've been told the glass used allows the maximum amount of the frequency required for D3 metabolism. Whether this is BS or not I still need to see. The only way to be sure is to place both a Standard mercury vapor and a Active UV heat bulb in front of a spectrascope and compare the patterns. I will try to do this myself in the not too distant future and post the results here. Until then I'm going to trust the data and results that I've seen on the Active UV heat bulb.
