EJ,
You are correct and I apologize. I was so mad at the presumption that we don't properly take care of our little guy I didn't stop to check who wrote what. My fault. It's just that we try so hard to provide Suki with what he needs, we're constantly trying to do right by him. When we got him he was severly pyramided and his shell was soft. After much research and many trips to the vet he is MUCH better. Anyway, I agree with you that striking a balance is very important. There's so much conflicting information out there, it's hard to determine what is proper. But we do our best.
Please accept my apology.
Christine
: Chris, If you go back and reread the post I was responding to the presumptiousness of the individual that you fed too much protein. Personally I thought the tortoise was in good shape. See, there is a faction out there that believes protein is the cause of all problems. I'm trying to fight this concept and enstill the idea that it is a balance between a number of factors that is responsible for abnormal growth.
: Protein is necessary. It is the basic building block for growth. Also, fiber is a form of protein. So you see protein is not bad. Imbalance is bad.
