Yup, you got G. sulcata (one t today).
As far as the common name goes you can call them what you like. Spurred, Spurred thighed, African... as long as the point is made.
There is only one true proper name that is actually sanctioned and that is Geochelone sulcata. No debate there. There is no (recognised)governing body for common names although I know a few folks who have tried. After all, what are they called in the country of origin? Are they all wrong?
