BB,
The growth thing is a real good question and there are many opinions about it, but really I don't think anybody knows for sure. I've read the oldest sulcata in captive history was only 54 when it died, and they say (who ever THEY are) that they live to be over 100 years old. Here's a pic I took for you of my youngest sulcata who just turned 15 months old, sitting on top of the container we brought her (I hope..lol) home in almost exactly 1 year ago.
The point I am trying to make is I really do not think anyone has owned a sulcata and had it on a good regimented diet long enough to record an accurate growth rate for the species.
Karl my largest is over 50 lbs, and he is 13 years old, and I have seen sulcata's not much older then my youngest at 15 to 20 lbs, no kidding.
I think maybe you would have better luck with that question if you sent it to Andy Highfield at the Tortoise Trust, or Brad Morris who visits the African Tortoise group on e-groups.com. I would be interested in what you find out, and become an egroup member while you are there.
Oh and P.S. my spelling is worse than yours..lol
Ciao'
Giovanni
