leopards tend to lay in an open area in direct sunlight. laying usually takes place late afternoon - early evening. the other post by Rick (Logic in Action) has some good info too. good luck,

Jon Kendrick

: Today i finished a nesting area for my pardalis, I made a hole in a south east oriented corner, as big as two or three times my bigger female.

: Over the hole I put a table with 1 m long legs, just for avoid rain, but not sun.

: I filled it with a more mixture of peat and perlite (more dry than wet), the rest of the enclousure substrate is hard press volcanic dirt. So i figure that the tortoises will elect the peat/perlite area.

: I hope it works, but always could be surprises.

: Any suggesstions, what other people do???

: I did it because I want to have a few control over the nesting process. I can not be all the day watching the tortoises.
