Not real sure about the soaking. I'm like you, I've heard to soak and not to soak. To be on the safe side, I keep a very shallow pan for her to get into when & if she wants, but I also soak her in lukewarm water every other day or so just in case.
Concerning the grasses, go to the Turtle Cafe at www.turtlecafe.com. They have an indoor tortoise grazing mix that has everything but the kitchen sink in it (grasses, cicory, clover, etc). Theresa, who runs Turtle Cafe, is VERY helpful. She also sells outdoor mixes, as well as fresh prickly pear as well.

: I am getting my hatchlimg salcuttas tommorow and was wondering if i had to soak them every other day or not.I have heard you dont have to soak them until they are one year old or so,true?Where can i find the grasses to grow indoors to feed them?Does anyone know what if any longterm affect a doublescute has on a salcutta.
