I have been raising this sulcata for about 2 years now. I use cuttlebone for calcium and a bulb called active UV heat for full spectrum lighting. Along with a varied diet I've gotten excellent results.
SCL or streight carapace length is a streight line distance down the centerline of the tortoise. Most biologist use this when measuring turtles and tortoises.
I record the weight, carapace, plastron, height and width length on a regular basis.
