thanks for the quick re! i did want to clarify one thing that i consider very important. i'm not one to look at these guys as pets--i'm very "biologically" oriented towards the species i keep. wood turtles might be considered pets. small torts from madagascar that lay one or two eggs and cost hundreds are not (and are not normally viewed that way, even in the states). if you want an idea of how i look at the "hobby" check out my speech under the Name Game posting on the monitor forum. it is nice to hear from another person who seems to have a genuine (by that i mean uncommon) ecologically-based interest in these guys. very sorry to hear you can't enjoy them over in europe--why is that? is there any chance of you relaying my email addy to your friend so i could hear from him? i've liked (understatement) these guys for so long and finally have the opportunity to destroy my wallet for some, but i don't want to jump into the water w/o my gear (you know, the being responsible--finding info first deal). thanks again for the attention, and keep that interest in REAL (wild) turtles!
