I have a redfoot, and I have successfully planted grass in his indoor enclosure. I didn't do anything special. The substrate in the enclosure is sphagnum peat moss, and I simply threw some seeds around. Grass grew and continues to grow and spread. One thing I would caution you. If you want to avoid mulch or soil mites, whatever you choose to use as a substrate, and whatever you choose to grow the grass seed in, bake it first. Baking the soil, mulch or peat moss prevents mites.
: Hello,
: I just ordered some different types of grass seeds for my red foot. I would like to grow some in his indoor cage but am unsure of what kind of substrate to use. I was thinking of using maybe some type of organic soil. Would that be the best choice? Should it be mixed w/ something else?
